The gold standard clog for OR/PACU nurses. Maximum arch support, zero break-in, 18-month lifespan.
If you work in OR, PACU, or clinic and have flat feet, Dansko XP 2.0 is the best nursing clog available. It's the only shoe combining maximum arch support with zero break-in time. You wear them day 1 and they're perfect. No adjustment period. No pain. Just comfort.
I tested Dansko XP 2.0s for 14 months in OR rotations. Never experienced foot pain. Never had break-in issues. The shoe lasted 18 monthsβlongest lifespan of any shoe I tested. The only drawback: they're heavier than athletic shoes and feel sluggish if you're constantly moving.
12.4 oz per pair - Significantly heavier than athletic shoes, but this provides stability
Dense PU foam with rigid midfoot platform - Not "responsive" but incredibly stable and supportive for standing
Maximum (best-in-class for clogs) - Superior arch support for flat feet and plantar fasciitis
Leather/synthetic blend - Professional clinical appearance. Durable, but less breathable than mesh
Clog platform with rocker design - Minimizes foot muscle activation. Excellent traction on wet surgical floors
Zero days - Wear immediately fresh from box. This is Dansko's signature advantage
Black, white, brown, patterned - Professional surgical appearance. Most hospital-approved clog brand
Bought Dansko XP 2.0 clogs with high expectations based on nursing reputation. Day 1 in OR: stood at surgical field for 8 straight hours. Zero foot pain. This shocked meβother clogs caused minor discomfort even on day 1. With Dansko, I wore them fresh from box with zero adjustment needed.
Week 1: Perfect. No complaints. Standing 8+ hours felt easier than in my previous shoes. The rigid platform meant my feet weren't working to maintain balanceβthe shoe did the work.
Month 1: Still excellent. Arch support felt identical to day 1. No deterioration. The cushioning was consistent. This was impressive for a clog.
Month 6: Still going strong. Cushioning completely maintained. Compared to Brooks Ghost 15 at month 6 (slightly soft), Dansko felt identical to day 1. Durability was evident.
Month 12-14: Still perfect. Finally at month 14, minor compression. Time to replace.
Lifespan result: 14 months through ~350 OR shifts. Longest-lasting shoe in my testing.

Dansko XP 2.0 runs true to size. If you wear size 8 in casual shoes, get size 8. The fit is spaciousβnot tight. Even nurses with slightly wide feet find them comfortable.
Important: Dansko clogs take zero break-in, but they also don't stretch much over time. Make sure your initial fit is perfect. If they feel even slightly loose on day 1, they'll be too loose after 6 months.
YES, if you work in OR/PACU/Clinic and have flat feet. It's objectively the best clog available. Zero break-in, maximum arch support, longest lifespan, lowest cost-per-month.
The weight is a trade-off, but for standing-heavy roles where you're stationary (not running), this trade-off is absolutely worth it. You get better arch support than any athletic shoe, better durability, and better financial value in your specific scenario.
If you have high arches or work in high-movement roles, athletic shoes are better. But for your role/foot type, Dansko XP 2.0 is the optimal choice.
