5 Nursing Shoe Mistakes You're Making

And how to avoid them

Mistake #1: Buying the Cheapest Option

Budget shoes wear out in 3-4 months. You'll replace them 3-4 times per year, spending more than quality shoes. Quality shoes lasting 8-18 months are better value.

Mistake #2: Not Trying Before Buying

Every foot is unique. Always try shoes in-store first, preferably after a shift when your feet are swollen.

Mistake #3: Wearing Old, Worn-Out Shoes

Worn shoes lose cushioning and support, causing foot pain. Replace shoes when sole shows wear, cushioning feels flat, or heel counter collapses.

Mistake #4: Not Giving Shoes Rest Days

Never wear the same shoes two consecutive days. Shoes need 24+ hours to decompress. Rotate between two pairs.

Mistake #5: Ignoring Foot Pain

Pain is a warning sign. Pushing through pain leads to injury. If a shoe causes pain, replace it.

The Fix: Invest in quality, try before buying, replace regularly, rotate pairs, and listen to your feet.
