Foot Pain After 12-Hour Shifts

What to do and how to prevent it

Common Causes

Wrong shoes, inadequate arch support, hard floors, poor weight distribution, insufficient recovery time between shifts.

Immediate Relief

Ice your feet for 15-20 minutes after shifts. Soak in Epsom salt baths. Elevate feet above heart level. Wear compression socks. Roll feet on tennis balls.

Long-Term Solutions

Invest in quality footwear with proper arch support. Brooks Ghost 15 and Dansko XP 2.0 are excellent choices. Give shoes rest days between wears.

When to Seek Help: If pain persists beyond 2 weeks despite proper shoes and care, see a healthcare provider.
